Description
A French light cavalry officer’s sabre, associated with the Gendarmerie d’Élite, featuring a strongly curved single-edged blade and an elegant silvered hilt.
The blade is decorated with gilt ornamental motifs, while the hilt and scabbard are extensively finished in silvered metal. The black grip and richly decorated fittings give the weapon a distinctly ceremonial and prestigious appearance, appropriate to an officer’s sidearm.
The combination of the curved cavalry blade, elaborate decoration and silvered fittings is characteristic of the refined officer’s weapons produced for the French cavalry during the Napoleonic era.
An impressive example of a decorative French cavalry officer’s sabre, reflecting the status and prestige associated with the Gendarmerie d’Élite.
