Description
A fine Dutch officer’s sabre, Model M1813 No. 1, of the type introduced during the period surrounding Waterloo and remaining in use into the mid-19th century.
The curved blade is particularly attractive, retaining crisp and extensive etched decoration, which continues onto the back of the blade. Although the blade carries no visible maker’s name or manufacturing marks, its form and workmanship are strongly characteristic of Solingen production.
The sabre retains its steel scabbard with two suspension rings and is accompanied by an original Dutch officer’s sword knot (dragonne), an especially desirable addition to the ensemble.
A well-preserved and visually impressive example of a Dutch officer’s sidearm from the post-Napoleonic period. Provenance : ex coll. H.Lieffers
Overall length: 91 cm.
Original Dutch sword knot included.
