Description
A 19th-century powder flask for black-powder firearms, constructed in brass with a traditional pear-shaped body and adjustable measuring spout.
The graduated mechanism at the neck allowed a measured charge of gunpowder to be dispensed before loading. Powder flasks of this form were commonly used with muzzle-loading firearms during the percussion era.
The brass retains an attractive aged patina with signs of historical use.
Provenance: Ex collection Jamin, former collection manager of the Dutch Army Museum.
