An original French cavalry giberne (cartridge pouch), Model 1872, for the Chasseurs à Cheval.

The black leather pouch is fitted with brass edging and a prominent gilt-brass hunting-horn emblem set against a radiating background, the traditional insignia associated with French light troops and chasseurs. The suspension fittings remain present on either side.
