Description
An unusual hussar pipe in the style traditionally associated with General Antoine Charles Louis de Lasalle, the celebrated French cavalry commander of the Napoleonic Wars.
The pipe features a tall wooden bowl with hinged metal cover, connected to a long flexible stem and shaped mouthpiece. The metal fittings are silver, with silver marks present on the shaft. Its distinctive form recalls the elaborate pipes closely associated with hussar culture and the flamboyant image of Napoleonic light cavalry officers.
An attractive piece of military-inspired material culture with a strong connection to the traditions and appearance of the Napoleonic hussars.
