Description
A charming pair of early 19th-century German officer portraits, finely carved in relief on bone and presented in their original-style oval wooden frames.
Both officers are depicted in profile wearing contemporary military uniform, with considerable attention given to their facial features, hairstyles and uniform details. Each portrait bears an inscribed name: “B. v. Lüttichau” and “B. v. Wobesci” (the latter reading should be treated as tentative).
The von Lüttichau name belongs to an established German noble family with a documented military tradition; officers of that name appear in German military records from the Napoleonic period.
