Description
A French private-purchase flintlock travel pistol for an officer, dating from the First Empire period.
The pistol was not a regulation military issue, but a privately acquired officer’s sidearm. It nevertheless bears inspection marks associated with the Manufacture de Saint-Étienne, including three “B” controller’s marks.
The barrel retains an attractive browned finish, and the pistol is in very good overall condition. Its compact proportions are typical of travel or personal-defence pistols intended to be carried conveniently by an officer.
