Description
A fine mid-19th-century percussion pistol by Morgenroth of Gernrode, distinguished by its high-quality finish and damascus barrel.
The pistol features an elegantly shaped walnut stock with finely chequered and carved grip, complemented by an extensively engraved percussion lock, hammer and furniture. The octagonal damascus barrel displays attractive patterning along its length, while the set-trigger arrangement and refined workmanship indicate a high-quality civilian or sporting pistol rather than an ordinary military arm.
Preserved in superb overall condition, with crisp decorative engraving and particularly attractive woodwork. A handsome example of German gunsmithing from the percussion era.
Overall length: approximately 40 cm.
