Description

A Dutch heavy cavalry sabre, Model M1814 No. 3 (HC3), issued for use by Dutch cuirassier and carabinier regiments during the early 19th century.

The sabre has the imposing proportions characteristic of a heavy cavalry weapon, with a long straight blade, substantial multi-bar brass guard and leather-covered grip. It retains its original steel scabbard with two suspension rings.

Of particular interest is its provenance: the sabre was formerly held in the Rijksmuseum collection/stock and was subsequently sold by Venduehuis der Notarissen in The Hague in 2020, lot 64. This documented institutional provenance makes it an especially interesting example of the Dutch M1814 heavy cavalry pattern.

Price includes the right model original buffle swordknot.
